A Tradition Worth Sharing

Like probably many, my love of genealogy stemmed from my grandmother. While growing up, she proudly shared memories and carefully saved mementos of her Swedish heritage. Pictures, newspaper clippings, and family documents dating back several generations were all documented and displayed scrapbook-style for us to remember. Her passion for understanding family history was contagious, and I was hooked.

Me & Grandma Ruth

She became our family historian (also documenting her husband's ancestry as well as my mothers), giving each of her grandchildren a unique book of photos celebrating our relatives and days long past.

When she left us in 2008, I was lucky enough to receive the fruits of her many years of labor. And, with the treasure of additional family keepsakes given to me, I felt compelled to maintain the tradition.

Since then, I've continued to document and research my family's heritage - becoming our new historian. And, while initially a hobby that I enjoyed sharing with my mother, it has turned into a professional passion.

I established FamilyTree Traditions to celebrate this love. I hope that it will inspire you to find new ways to put your family story on display for the next generation.

Much love to my Grandma Ruth for passing the baton.

Now, consider it passed to you.
